Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Teen Homeschool Academy ("we", "us", "the Platform") collects, uses, and protects information when a family uses our homeschool learning platform.
2. Information We Collect
Parent account information: name, email address, and login credentials.
Student information (entered by a parent): name, grade level, avatar, assigned courses, and an optional student login email.
Academic records: lesson progress, completed lessons, grades, attendance, quiz results, and certificates.
Uploaded files: lesson attachments and answer key documents your family uploads.
Pen Pal messages: text messages exchanged between students through the moderated Pen Pals feature.
Payment information: subscription and billing details are processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.
Support requests: any messages submitted through the Support page.
3. Children's Privacy
Teen Homeschool Academy is built for students in grades 9–12. All student accounts are created and managed by a parent or legal guardian — students do not sign up independently, and a parent is always able to view, edit, or remove their student's information from the Parent Portal.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child without the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to: operate and maintain the Platform, track academic progress and attendance, issue certificates, process payments, respond to support requests, and improve the Platform's features.
We do not use student academic data for advertising purposes.
5. How We Store & Protect Information
Data is stored in a managed Postgres database (Supabase) with encrypted connections. Access to family data is restricted by account: a parent can only see their own family's students, grades, and attendance, and students can only see their own linked information.
The Platform is hosted on Vercel's infrastructure.
6. Third-Party Services
Stripe: processes subscription payments. See Stripe's own privacy policy for how they handle payment data.
Supabase: hosts our application database.
Vercel: hosts the application itself.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share student data with advertisers.
7. Pen Pals Safety
All messages sent through the Pen Pals feature are held for administrator review before being delivered to the other student, as an added safety layer for younger users.
8. Parental Rights & Access
As a parent, you can view, edit, or delete your student's information at any time from the Parent Portal, including removing a student's account entirely.
If you would like us to delete your family's account and associated data, please contact us through the Support page in your Parent Portal.
9. Data Retention
We retain account and academic data for as long as your family's account remains active, so that progress, grades, attendance, and certificates stay available to you. You may request deletion of your data at any time as described above.
10. Cookies
We use essential cookies/session storage to keep you signed in and to remember your role (parent, student, or admin). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your family's data is handled, please reach out through the Support page in your Parent Portal.
